Not paying attention to your competition.
If you talk to a business owner and ask how the leading companies in their industry got to where they are, they will tell you how their competition got there.
Ask them about their own strategy for becoming the leader in their industry and it won’t be anything close to what their competition did to get to where they are.
Why is that?
Hence the saying: If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. – Sun Tzu
